On World Heart Day, observed annually on September 29, India’s medical device industry and hospital networks highlighted the growing burden of heart disease and the urgent need for early detection to improve outcomes. This year’s theme, “Don't Miss a Beat,” emphasizes timely intervention.
Experts note that advanced imaging and artificial intelligence are transforming cardiovascular care. Siemens Healthcare, stressed that accessible next-generation imaging enables accurate diagnoses and data-driven interventions. Similarly, Philips India highlighted AI-guided minimally invasive procedures, which reduce scans, improve precision, and enhance patient experience.
Women’s heart health is also a concern. Experts emphasized monitoring during pregnancy, and advocated genetic testing and lifestyle changes for prevention. Hospitals report progress with new drug classes and therapies, including SGLT2 inhibitors, PCSK9 inhibitors, and mavacamten for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Public campaigns, check-ups, and workshops on World Heart Day aim to raise awareness and encourage proactive care.
