Nethradhama Mysuru Launches City’s First MIGS Centre for Advanced Glaucoma Care

Nethradhama Superspeciality Eye Hospital, Mysuru, has launched the city’s first Centre of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), offering advanced, patient-friendly treatments for glaucoma — a leading cause of irreversible blindness in India. Glaucoma silently affects 11.9 million people nationwide, often progressing unnoticed until vision loss is permanent. The centre introduces innovations like the iStent inject-W, a microscopic implant that restores fluid drainage and reduces medication dependency, and the Kahook Dual Blade for excisional goniotomy. These microincision procedures allow faster recovery and personalized treatment approaches. Since late 2024, over 25 MIGS procedures have been performed, with patients reporting improved comfort and reduced reliance on eye drops. The centre eliminates the need for patients from surrounding districts to travel to Bengaluru for advanced care. Nethradhama Mysuru, now in its 12th year and NABH ECO accredited, continues to expand access through outreach and CSR efforts, aiming to make cutting-edge eye care available to semi-urban and rural communities.
