New Non-Hormonal Menopause Drug Now Available on NHS England

A new treatment option for menopause symptoms is now accessible through NHS England, offering relief to women who cannot use hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The drug, Veoza, is a once-daily, non-hormonal pill designed to reduce hot flushes and night sweats by targeting specific nerve signals in the brain.

Recommended by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, the treatment is intended for women experiencing moderate to severe symptoms, particularly those with conditions that make HRT unsuitable. Experts estimate that around 500,000 women could benefit from this alternative.

Menopause-related symptoms, driven by declining oestrogen levels, can significantly affect sleep, mood, and overall quality of life. While HRT remains the primary treatment, Veoza provides an important option for those seeking non-hormonal solutions.

However, it is not suitable for everyone, including women with certain cancers or liver disease, and should be prescribed based on individual medical assessment.
