Smart Manufacturing Takes Center Stage in Life Sciences: Rockwell Automation Report

Rockwell Automation has released its 10th annual “State of Smart Manufacturing Report: Life Sciences Edition,” capturing insights from 143 industry leaders across 15 countries, including India. The report highlights how life sciences manufacturers are turning to advanced technologies like AI, automation, and digital twins to navigate rising demand, regulatory complexity, workforce shortages, and cybersecurity risks.

According to the findings, 95% of life sciences companies are either deploying or evaluating smart manufacturing technologies. AI is widely used to enhance product quality (53%), optimize operations (50%), and boost cybersecurity (48%). Nearly half of the respondents are investing in AI and automation to counteract skilled labor shortages.

In India, the sector is evolving rapidly, driven by global trade shifts and the push for patient-centric innovation. With only 46% leveraging data effectively, the report emphasizes that converting insights into action will be vital for scalable, resilient, and secure operations.
