UnitedHealthcare Launches UHC Store for Direct-to-Consumer Health Programs

UnitedHealthcare has launched a new marketplace called UHC Store, allowing more than 6 million commercial members to purchase additional health programs not typically covered by employer insurance. Available on the company’s app and website, the marketplace is expected to expand to 18 million members later this year.

UHC Store features offerings such as weight management programs, women’s health resources, chronic condition management, and mental health support, with some services discounted by up to 15%. UnitedHealthcare will collect a small vendor discount for hosting the offerings, which include products from established health and wellness brands.

The move comes as insurers attempt to rebuild consumer trust amid growing frustration with complex benefits. While UHC Store may help members access valuable services employers could cut to manage rising healthcare costs, the insurer emphasized that the marketplace is not insurance and should not replace medical advice or coverage.
